Belinda Jackson
Residency: late 1980's
Belinda is better known as "Buffy" and is married to
Thomas Jackson. They have one son,
Hobbie, and she is involved with the management and operations
of the resort. She is also an excellent seamstress.

George A. Jackson
George A. Jackson is a son of
Art Jackson
and the father of Thomas and Kenneth Jackson. He attended the
Content School
as a child and, eventually, took over management and continued
to build Jackson's Lakeside Cottages.
There was even a small airplane landing strip on it.

George H. Jackson

George H. Jackson has a Memorial Page
George was one of our
area's earliest residents. He operated a farm on what is now
Old Hwy 70, west of the New Twilight
Tavern (Twilight
Tavern). His land bordered Alma Lake. He
eventually built and operated Red Oaks
Resort on Alma Lake. This was sold
in a few years and he purchased another resort, which he
renamed, Jackson's
Lakeside Cottages. This
included about 120 acres of land on West Bay of Little St.
Germain and he farmed a little over 60 acres. He passed away
only a few years later.

Janet Jackson
Residency: 1951
Janet is a sister to Floyd Rogers
and moved here with her parents when they purchased a resort on
Dam Lake. She married George A. Jackson
and is the mother of Thomas and
Kenneth Jackson. She helped operate
Jackson's
Lakeside Cottages. She is
now retired and living at the resort.

Earl Jacobson

Earl was the former
owner of Earl's Dutch Door (The
Boxer). He purchased the tavern from
Carl Brent and sold it to Richard
Morton some years later. Earl currently resides in
Redmond, CA.

Frank moved here and built a liquor store on Hwy 155. He
operated Jaeger's Liquor Store until
he passed away.

Jeffery Jellen
Residency: Born here
Jeff is a son
of Joseph Jellen. He bartended at
the Thirsty Whale in Minoqua, WI for a few years, then was
employed by the Oneida (Budweiser) Distributorship in
Rhinelander, WI. He moved to Rhinelander and remained employed
until he passed away at age 43. He is buried next to his father,
who also passed away at a young age.

Joseph Jellen
Residency: Early 1960's
Joe was a police chief in Minnesota, moved
here, and was employed as a Vilas County Police Officer until he
passed away at age 49. His home was the log cabin across from
Bob Katz Tavern (Waukegan)
on Hwy 70.

Jess Jensen
Residency: 1923
Jess
was born in Chicago, Feb. 18, 1887, and ran a dry cleaning
business there for many years. In 1923, he came to Vilas County
and purchased Found Lake Lodge on the southeast shore of Found
Lake from
Bernard Juve.
It compromised 69 acres of land with six buildings and
accommodations for 30 guests which he expanded.

"Ma" Johnson
Residency: Mid-1930's
No one now remembers (if they ever knew)
her first name. She seemed to be known only as "Ma" Johnson.
She built and operated her tavern on Hwy 155 ("Ma"
Johnson's) for many years. When
she retired in the early 1950's, she sold it to
George Gensler.
The original name of her tavern is not known. George changed
the name to Club 155.

Edward Johnston
Residency: Mid-1980's
Ed purchased
Pinehurst Resort on West Bay on Little St. Germain from
David Consoer (Elder). Currently,
he and his wife still operate the resort.
He was also vice-president of the First National Bank in Eagle
River until he retired from there.

Little is known about Ellis Jones today.
He came from New York State and built what was known as the
"White House" on the south side of Big St. Germain Lake.
This was the fifth resort built on the lake.

Bernard Juve

Bernard was born in Vernon County, WI on
Sept. 27, 1888. He moved to Vilas County in 1905 with his
parents Obert A. and Gusena Juve.
In 1918 he saw heavy fighting in France at St. Mihiel and
Argonne. When he returned to Found Lake on April 21, 1919, he
built and operated Found Lake Resort until he sold it to
Jess Jensen.

Margaret Juve

Margaret was a daughter of
Alexander McGregor, Jr. and a sister
to Esther Rux and
Jenny Rux. She was born here in
1906. She married a Juve, but the first name is unknown. She
lived across the road from her father's resort, what is now
Sunrise Shores Resort (Jack Pine Lodge and
Resort) on Cty C.
